Vacation

Taking our annual summer trip up to Dad and Bon's was much easier then anticipated with two toddlers and Brandon. Brandon spent the 4 hours in the van watching his DVDs, looking up only to point out items of interest such as ice cream stores and a McDonald's Playland. Katie and Lainey also did well in the car, happily reading and holding their beloved "beary" for most of the way. The last hour they started to get restless but we popped in a cd of Bible songs sung by kids and they beebopped all way to Papa's house.

We had a great time at the lake. Brandon got to see a snake (small and garter - my favorite kind!) sunning itself on the road.
He was very excited to help celebrate Dee's Grandma's birthday on the 4th - and was equally eager to help out by eating as many cupcakes as possible. We also got to visit with Grandma Anna and Don and Great Grandma Irene and Great Grandpa George on the 4th.
It was quite the busy week for Brandon! He "drove" the jetski and pontoon boat with Papa and loved the cabin on Uncle Mike's boat.
All three kiddos had fun on the beach and playing in the water. Papa took Brandon for his second plane ride in his Aztec. He loved riding in the tube with Daddy and Papa behind Uncle Mike's boat. I asked Brandon what his favorite part of the week was and his response was playing Hotwheels with Papa, dancing with Nanabo and vaccuming with Daddy.


We also visited with Great Grandpa Andy and Great Grandma Libby who kept the kids busy by hiding treats and juice boxes around the living room for the kids to find. As we left their house that day, I knew I would never see one of them again. Grandpa died 5 weeks later - the morning after they received the pictures we sent them from this trip.


On Friday we did the survivors lap with Bonnie at the local Relay for Life. We made "Team Bonnie" shirts for our little group. We all had a great time at the event and hopefully will be able to be there again next year. Brandon still proudly wears his "Bonnie" tshirt now that we are home.
